Casimir

This review might be a bit skewed as I used to live above Casimir (103-105 Avenue B @6-7th St.) from 2001-2005, so I’ll just talk about the recent addition of the Prix Fixe daily from 5:30-7pm. At $20, this is a real steal. The selection of plates are great (I always opt for the Country Pate & Steak Tartare, but the Salmon entree is nice as well). The dessert is a bit on the small side (a scoop of ice cream or sorbet), but I’m normally stuffed by then anyway.

Country Pate

The portions are large & filling & I still think that Casimir has some of the best Tartare around (both the steak & the salmon). There was a salmon & herring tartare special recently on the menu which I thought was out of this world. You might be noticing that I like tartare…  The staff are friendly, there’s great atmosphere & music and the wine selection is extensive. Plus they have Duvel! All in all, a great restaurant & not just for an early dinner.

Casimir’s brunch is also very good.  The menu is small but varied.  I particularly like the Tunisian Eggs & the Bagel w/Smoked Salmon (shown to the right)
