This was just too choice to ignore. Diable Royale Este (167 Avenue A @ 11th Street) will begin serving up beer popsicles! Take a can of Tecate, add simple syrup, lime & a wooden stick then freeze for 4 days. Your bartender will cut the can in half with a serrated knife. BINGO, instant Hopsicle, Genius! Let it be known that I love food in all shapes & forms but through the miracle of Twitter, I stumbled upon an abomination; Sushi Popper! I’m all for food on a stick; Lollipops, Popsicles, Meat, etc. but Sushi, NO THANKS! This is just a little bit too odd! With four (*barf*) delicious flavors; California Roll, Chicken Teriyaki, Vegetable Roll & Spicy Shrimp you’re sure to find something you’ll like! If the thought of eating Sushi-on-a-stick doesn’t gross you out enough, the fact that 30 bucks will get you 6 rolls shipped to you (Seafood in your mailbox! Yay!) will certainly lead to some sort of food poisoning! Added bonus; 2 six-pack minimum order!
Huzzah! I finally got what Santa never brought me for Christmas last year (no, not Zoe Saldana in her birthday suit, the other thing); a Cuisinart 1.5 Quart Ice Cream Maker(available at Amazon)! It arrived this morning (just in time for the great weather), so I haven’t had a chance to give the thing a whirl, but rest assured there will be a lot of delicious ice cream recipes (as well as any disastrous results) posted here in the near future.
I plan to getting my ‘Iron Chef’/Jehangir Mehta on & coming up with some funky flavors, most likely starting with a Smoked Bacon & Maple (Foie Gras Sundaes will have to wait). I’ll let you guys know how it goes. In the meantime, if you have any ideas/recipes, email them to me; contact @ eveats.com
Note: Crappy stock photo of my new favorite toy via Amazon.com as I’m too lazy to take a picture.
Update: Made Coffee Ice Cream.
I don’t know which genius thought this useless thing up, but for $19.95 you can get yourself an EZ Cracker (& the EZ Scrambler for FREE! a $20 value!)! It’ll probably not fit into your kitchen drawer, be impossible to clean & only get used once as a novelty. I bet that it’s a clusterfuck to get the empty shell out of this contraption, funnily enough, they don’t show it on the amazing promotional video!
I recently received a box of Vosges’ Bacon Caramel Toffee as a gift from a foodie friend. Basically I think that any flavor can be enhanced by bacon & desserts/chocolate/toffee is no exception! The toffee & chocolate are both delicious, but it’s the addition of Nueske‘s Applewood Smoked Bacon that puts these tasty little treats over the top. Not too sweet, but with a smoky bacon flavor & Alderwood smoked salt. $12 gets you a 4oz. box of sweet porky goodness. Not exactly the cheapest treat, but if you’re into bacon & chocolate, I suggest you give it a try.
